American University

For this first page of my art website I chose 3 images that I think inspirationally express and show my undergraduate college alma mater especially well.

Kay Spiritual Center at American University  2010  acrylic on canvaspaper  22 x 28 inches  $300

For this unique round-shaped-building of worship under a fabulous sculpted flame, I first photgraphed it on my undergraduate alma mater's campus: at American University in Washington, DC. This wonderful house of worship is a place where  various religions celebrate their services  opposite and on the other side of a green lawn quadrangle and the campus's library.

The Katzen Center at American University  2010 acrylic on canvaspaper  22 x 28 inches $300

After having photographed this one evening on the American University campus, I later painted this acrylic on canvaspaper in my first studio. My aim was to show the viewer how at night this probably post-modern campus art building/museum is very colorful lit up on a clear blue night. Also to show my connection with this new AU art building as opposed to the old Watkins building: in 2007 I had a painting, "Sunset over Western Avenue" exhibited in their AU Alumni art show in their museum. This painting happened to be based on a photograph I took on the other side of an alley where I grew up also in this AU Park neighborhood.

Zapatka-The Eagle Sculpture 2, American

The Eagle Sculpture at American University 2014  acrylic  24.25 x 20.25 inches $350

This is my folder displaying three different but awesome images of my college, undergraduate alma-mater, American University. This is where I earned a BA in Studio Art for Painting.

The Katzen Center, American University, 2010, acrylic on canvaspaper  22.00 x 28.00  inches,  $300 $300
Kay Spiritual Center, American
University,
2010  acrylic on canvas paper,
22.00 x 28.00 inches,  $300

This is an acrylic painting on canvas paper of The Kay Spiritual Center. It is a building on the campus of American University where various religions worship during each year. It was painted from a photograph taken at early night in a realist/impressionist style.

The Katzen Center, American University,  2010  acrylic on canvaspaper  22 x 28 inches,  $300

This is an acrylic painting on canvas paper of the Katzen Center. It is the new visual and performing arts center at American University that was built and finished in 2005. I, Paul Zapatka, had the good fortune of being in the 2007 American University Alumni Art Show that was here.

I had a sunset over house painting accepted for this show. That painting, Sunset over Western Avenue along with the above one happens to be located in the Washington, DC

neighbor I grew up in:American University Park.

The Eagle Sculpture, American University  2014  acrylic on canvas, 24.25 x 20.25 inches  $350

This is an acrylic painting of the American University Eagle that I painted from a photograph of this sculpture. It is an inspirational piece of art on this campus for me having graduated from American University in 1990. With a major in Studio Art in Painting I'm a grateful artist and alumnus having gone here for four years.
